Chengdu has reportedly earmarked a plot within one of its old urban districts to be developed into the central business district (CBD) of the city encompassing a business and financial centre, and a cultural centre. The massive project will adopt the market operation model and involve financing in the scale of Rmb980 million.

    The themes of the new CBD are "water + green + sunlight". The old shops in the area will be restored by modern techniques. An 80,190 sqm service apartment block, a 21,075 sqm office tower, and a 31,317 sqm commercial centre are being planned. In addition, the CBD will house a large outdoor fountain and landscaped parks. Upon completion, the CBD will feature a full range of commercial functions and become a new landmark alongside the bustling commercial districts of Chunxi Road and Yanshikou.
