CHENGDU, July 26 (Xinhua)-- Hong Kong and Macao signed a treaty to cooperate in intellectual property protection with pan pearl river delta provinces Tuesday, which signifies the establishment of an intellectual property protection platform covering pan pearl river delta region.
The treaty was signed on the second Pan Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Cooperation and Development Forum, which is ongoing in Chengdu, the capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
According to the treaty, Pan Pearl River region will establish a unified, effective and standard system, which would subsequently upgrade the property protection level of the region. The treaty also helps to establish a mechanism to promote patent technology transfer and application within the region. The treaty is expected to improve the competitive strength and innovation of the pan pearl river region.

The Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, known as 9+2, comprises Guangdong, Hainan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.The land space of the eight provinces and one autonomous region accounts for one-fifth of Chinese mainland's total space.
